The Sun is Shining! The Weather is Sweet Again!
The sun is finally shining, flowers are beginning to blossom and we are so excited to embrace all of the seasonal changes that the springtime brings!
The spring season brings with it many opportunities to explore new life in nature, and here at Ickle Pickles Day Nursery in Iwade we are already thinking about what kind of things we can plant. This week, Gemma is going to be planting some flowers in our planters at the front of the nursery and we can’t wait to see them bloom and talk about the colours, smells and sights we can explore!
Why not try and do some planting yourselves at home – growing simple herbs and vegetables that can be used in your cooking at home with the children. This is a wonderful way for the children to learn about healthy eating, cause and effect and where our food comes from. Not only that, but did you know that research has found that children who grow their own vegetables are FIVE TIMES more likely to eat them and children who eat vegetables before the age of two are more likely to develop a taste for them?!
